Joan Stephens received her Juris Doctorate Degree from Chapman University School of Law, in Orange County California. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Ms. Stephens obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from California State University Fullerton, where she graduated summa cum laude.


Ms. Stephens began her career at the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, as a Deputy District Attorney. While at the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Stephens handled well over 1,000 juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony cases combined, as well as many felony and misdemeanor DUI’s. During her employment at the DA’s office, Ms. Stephens received special training in the areas of driving under the influence cases, drug cases, child abuse, domestic violence, fraud cases, white collar crime, and juvenile cases.

During law school, Ms. Stephens served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Manual Ramirez, Presiding Judge of the California Court of Appeal. Ms. Stephens also served as an extern for Appellate Defender’s Inc., as well as the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. In these positions, Ms. Stephens gained valuable insight into, not only how the District Attorney’s Office handles cases, but also how the Appellate Court handles cases. She now puts this combined experience to work for you.

Ms. Stephens is an experienced and aggressive trial lawyer who has an impressive record of success. As a former Deputy District Attorney, Ms. Stephens knows what the DA needs in order to prove its case, as well as the various reasons the DA may lose.
